Research Grants

As part of the efforts to strengthen health systems research, SHSRCK has provided individual and institutional research grants for undertaking research on various aspects of Kerala's health system. The first round of call for proposals for research grants was taken up in the year 2013-14. All the proposals received were reviewed by a technical committee consisting of eminent public health experts. Based on the review of the technical committee thirteen research projects were taken up which includes six individual and seven institutional research projects. These projects are in various stages of completion and the details are given below.

  • Evaluation of Home Care Services of Palliative Care Programmes in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts
  • A study on the use of bacteriophages as tracers for predicting the safe distance between the contamination source and well water in different soil environments
  • A study on Spectroscopic analysis of light transmission in cataractous lens of smokers and non smokers
  • Risk factors for Hepatitis B - A case control study from Kollam
  • Causes and risk factors of perinatal and neonatal mortality - A community based case control study from Kollam
  • Study on drinking water quality and sanitation practices in Kollam
  • Clinical Pathological study of iron status and hematological parameters in pregnant women and their association with gestational diabetes mellitus
  • A study on School based intervention programme against tobacco and alcohol conception in high school/higher secondary school of rural, Kerala
  • A cohort study on Relation of incidence of water borne disease with quality of drinking water
  • A study on prevalence of infertility among married couples in a selected rural panchayat of Kozhikode District
  • A project to develop a training package on primary health care skills of medical officers and field health staffs
